I’m Stefan Nordström, an aspiring musician and content creator. This is one of the ways I promote Desolator, my old school death metal band. If you’re searching for new music in the style, it would be awesome if you listened to my stuff on:

Blood Incantation – Hidden History of the Human Race (United States)
2016 debut “Starspawn” gained Blood Incantation an instant following and it’s going to be interesting to hear the follow-up.

Blood Red Throne – Fit to Kill (Norway, 13 September)
Blood Red Throne has always been one of my favorite death metal bands. Based on the pre-released song “InStructed InSanity”, I’m convinced “Fit to Kill” will be a top feature on this list. Kickass riffs as usual.
Breaking Wheel – Ceremonial Torture (United States, 1 February)
Interesting debut album from this Michigan band I’ve never heard of before. Mixes music styles and influences into an enjoyable, and mostly death metal sound. The black metal and thrash metal sections makes it paradoxally distinguishable, it’s not really possible to directly compare Breaking Wheel to another band.
Diabolical – Eclipse (Sweden, 15 February)
It looks like Diabolical are going epic on their new album. “We are Diabolical” has the usual Immolation/Behemoth stylings of their newer material, and even features proggy clean vocals.
Disentomb – The Decaying Light (Australia, 12 July)
A solid slab of Australian brutal death metal filled with tempo shifting and most things you can expect from a 7/10-ish BDM album.
Embrional – Evil Dead (Poland, 10 January)
Polish death metal is usually quality, and Embrional is no exception. Another solid album from these guys!
Hate – Auric Gates of Veles (Poland, 14 June)
Hate is a workman-like band churning out solid Polish death metal, while never reaching the heights of 2005’s “Anaclasis”. Solid stuff in a familiar style. I like this album a lot more than the last few discs thanks to the sheer velocity and nice changes in tempo.
Infernal Conjuration – Infernale Metallum Mortis (Mexico, 7 June)
Fans of Morbid Angel’s “Altars of Madness” (who isn’t?) will certainly dig the full-length debut from this Mexican band. Really digging the energy, hooks and overall sound on this album.
Malevolent Creation – The 13th Beast (United States, 18 January)
I’m unsure of what this classic band will be able to achieve at this point, especially with their singer gone. The band’s 90’s material will give them the benefit of the doubt. It will be at least on par, judging by “Decimated” below.
Misery Index – Rituals of Power (United States, 8 March)
Misery Index is a long-time favorite of mine. One of the most aggressive death metal bands out there, often bordering on crust punk and deathgrind. “Rituals of Power” does not disappoint. Another quality album.
Musmahhu – Reign of the Odious (Sweden, 18 January)
This album surprised me a lot. Strong black metal influences and focus on sonic impact over riff quality usually doesn’t excite me. However, Musmahhu’s album does. It’s a really evil-sounding one with loads of suffocation atmosphere. Good job!
Profanation – Into Cascades (Germany, 26 April)
Really aggressive deathgrind-ish band that will please fans of Misery Index and other bands in the style.
Tomb Mold – Planetary Clairvoyance (Canada, 19 July)
Really hyped album in death metal circles, and for good reason. Tomb Mold have an interesting sound, merging murky Incantation moves with blazing technicality. The songwriting is solid as well. Even thought it’s not completely my style, I definitely approve!
