“Time Stands Still” background

I’ve never quite shook the feeling of being out of myself since the events I talked about on the Famine album. Everything has been a haze. I don’t like how it feels like time stands still and how things don’t matter. Too much isolation and too much echo-chamber.

Our modern world doesn’t help. Everything seems to be senseless super-speed. No soul. No afterthought. No consequences. Just sell, win, succeed. The headstrong, the loud and the persistent win, no matter if they actually make sense.

I feel like many of us are struggling with vulnerabilities. Some choose to open up, do the work and look for empathy and peace, even it’s hard. Way too many double down on doing harm, being nothing but negative forces in the World. The latter category seem to be the winners in 2026, at least holding a firm grip on all things material and superficial.

I’m left to linger and search for the small crumbs of reason that still exist in this world. Once again I ask: how much does acceptance help, and when does that in itself become surrender and destruction?

I find myself valuing my time on earth more than ever. Everything is temporary and things need to happen now, now, now. At the same time I’ve never been so aware, if that makes any sense. Those two factors constantly clash. Time has never been so important, but I’ve also never felt as disillusioned with the outside world..

I chose it as the first single since it’s the most drive-heavy song on the album, not necessarily the best. It has the hooks and an unusual relentlessness for a Soliloquium song. I think it could become a favourite for that reason.

“Time Stands Still” lyrics

Squander reason in abandon
Words devoid of afterthought
Life as a fugitive
Spiritual poverty
In this fast-paced world

Confine me to my chamber
This garden of disdain
Where thoughts go unopposed
Unwinding knots
As minutes turn to hours

Time stands still
All draws to a halt
Time stands still
Try to break free

Surrender calls
Reckless abandon
Race of the headstrong
And the fallout in their wake

Tried to rush and tried to halt
Hounds of prey
Always at my heels

Shaken to the core
Restless once more
Words that won’t wash away
With acceptance may come stillness
A beacon to carry on
